Creating your own sacred place / altar
In some native cultures it was/is common to have altars at home to do daily rituals, like bringing sacrifices, receiving blessings, connecting with the ancestors and praying.
In our times it is so important to have sacred places like altars, islands of peace and silence, where we can withdraw to calm our minds, pray and chant, meditate, rest and find peace.
We can get creative and build up our altars by our own..
- Decorate your altar with colourful scarves, incense, candles, photos of beloved people or people who need healing, stones, symbols that express your gratitude, that express the protection you need, symbols for your power animal(s), flowers, paintings, etc.
- Sacrifice things by your altar, e.g.: some food or money, that you give away to someone who needs it, or sacrifice your habit to smoke, or your habit to be jealous
- Do rituals by your altar, that support you in difficult life situations, call your benevolent ancestors and power- animals
- If you feel distracted or unhappy visit your altar like you would visit an oasis to get refreshed by energies that are good for you
