What is the place of death and dying in my life?
What do you think about death and dying? Do you think about it? Are you afraid of it? Do you speak about your feelings concerning death and dying?
How would you like to die? How would you wish someone you love to die? What could you do to provide for you or someone you love opportunities to die in a way that is dignified?
In the Eastern traditions, especially in the Tibetan culture death has a complete other meaning than in our world, it is seen as the most important moment of life. For their perception it is an honour to go through the process of dying.
Luckily there are beautiful teachings from different cultures about death and dying, which help to let go fear and ignorance and to deal consciously with dying around us.
Luckily even in our culture we have some islands, where the process of dying is seen as graceful, and people are accompanied to die in peace.
Some are accompanied at home by their beloved, some in hospices. In a very respectful and calm way the dying are supported to prepare just the way they want it. They may deny and they may share feelings, but they have someone to listen and to hold their hand.
What are your experiences?
Have you ever been with someone who died- maybe even in your arms?
Have you ever set beside someone who died and touched him/her, or talked to him/her?
How did you feel, what did you experience?
What does life ask from you concerning the theme of death and dying?
